incase your feeling discontent about your creative art

Hi friends, how are you doing? It is currently 3:25am, my eyes are puffy and I have my heart set on typing this post at this exact moment (and by all means publishing it) before going to bed. I normally proof read about 4-5 times before I hit publish, however, I don’t think that will be happening this morning. Please bear with me if there are any errors or things don’t make as much sense as usual. I just felt like I needed to share this while the thought is still fresh in my mind.

Feeling discontent.

For some reason, since yesterday I have been noticing weird oddities about my blog that I never noticed before. Where I was happy and content about the white space, bold images and my words something seemed off. Suddenly the fonts didn’t match, the menu looked too cluttered in the header area, maybe I should have added some color to this bland corner of the internet I call my home. Maybe. Maybe. Maybe. The questions just came pouring in after noticing one flaw after another and then another and then lo-and-behold discontent got to me. I wasn’t happy with my blog anymore. This all happened in a span of less than 48 hours.

What’s the point?

I was going to go into this whole story about what led to my feelings of discontent but that is not the point of my post. The point is that whatever your art is and however you’ve created it to look, is perfect just the way that it is. You  may be a newbie blogger like me, or a photographer, a cook, gardener, mum, speaker, writer, poet, I could go on. Your creative art is perfect just the way that it is. Go easy on yourself if your happy about something and even if you’re not, be patient with yourself. It’s taken a good 2 years for me to figure out this whole blogging thing and I’m still learning. Today I thought my blog needed more visual stimulation because I’ve seen so many other beautiful blogs that aren’t as plain as mine. I actually placed a teacup in my header for a few hours (because in my mind a teacup signifies simplicity) and tried to make my own logo, but then I also remembered that my content is centered around minimalism and most of the minimalist blogs I look up to don’t even have pictures on their sites or have very little fancy customizations on them. It’s all just plain, simple, and meaningful words.

Final thoughts.

I hope I got my point across in case your feeling any discontent towards your art. A reminder: be okay with what it is now. If you have any thoughts about creativity/discontentment you’re welcome to share in the comments. Thank you for reading and see you in my next post! (P.s I’m probably going to proof read this at least once because the perfectionist in me will not let this go!).

  1. This reminds me that in the blogging world, we all have the same thoughts and I am not alone. I know countless of times where I have hated the way my blog looks or felt disconnected with the things I write but, like you said by trying things out that work for you and not doing something because you’ve seen everyone else do it. Letting go of the idea and just enjoying what is, is all we can do.

    1. I think it’s also important to take breaks when you feel like your not happy about your blog. That is something I’m learning to do when I feel the discontentment creeping in. Thank you so much for sharing ☺️❤️

  2. I love the simplicity. I agree with you. I used to have lot of doubts abut my creations and needed others appreciation to see their beauty (I tangle :)) But recently left it and just appreciate them all! Yes perfectionist in me keeps improving too! Keep blogging 🙂
