four reasons I love spending time alone

Hi friends, how are you? Today’s blog post is inspired by the self-care practice of spending time alone to regenerate your mind and your body. After a long busy day or week the thing I value the most is having a little peace and quiet in order to ‘recharge my batteries.’ I don’t know if that’s the introvert in me or if that’s how a lot of other people recharge their energy (if you do please let me know). I wrote down a short list of why I love and value alone time so much, read on to see if you can relate:

1. I need time to charge my batteries by myself! This is pretty much the main reason why I value alone time so much. After a long day it’s nice to be in the comfort of my bedroom while reading my favorite book and maybe drinking a glass of wine. It’s how I charge my batteries and prepare myself for more arduous tasks.

2. I can hear myself think. I don’t know about you but I find it extremely difficult to concentrate and focus my mind and thoughts on creative ideas when I’m surrounded by noise. It could be anything from people talking, the sound of a television, loud music and noises. When you find time to be alone at any given time of the day, it clears your mind from the noise so that your mind can focus on your creativity.

3. I feel free to be myself. I can dance, I can sing to myself, I can recite lines from a movie I watched while looking at my performance in the mirror. I can be myself. I can be goofy, playful without fear of being judged by anyone and it feels liberating.

4. It’s when I generate the most ideas. This point goes along with number 2. I have way more creative ideas during alone time and this is usually at night because there is less noise and everyone is mellowed down. It is easier to focus and concentrate on something  when you’re in a quiet space that makes you feel comfortable and uninterrupted.

It could just be that I value alone time because I’m such an introvert but either way I think everyone can still benefit from it like I do. I want to end this post with a few questions for you; are you an introvert or extrovert? Do you value alone time? Why or why not? Feel free to share your thoughts I really appreciate it when you do. Thank you so much for reading and see you in my next post!

  1. I’m an introvert, though with my close friends–who are like 2 or 3–I can become crazy and silly and I know they won’t judge me. But I do need my alone time. And for me, when I’m alone my creativity bursts forth. I need to recharge for the next and I just love the quiet.

  2. I am also an introvert and love time by myself. I get a lot of my blog ideas when I run alone. So liberating! Thanks for following my blog and keep up the good work!

    1. Magazines are the best! And aww I hope you find a way to get that much needed alone time ❤️ Thank you for sharing!

  3. I’m also one who NEEDS/MUST HAVE time alone, just like you. Without it, not only do I find it difficult to concentrate on being creative, but I find that it isn’t long before I just shut down and can’t function at all. I’ve joked that I’m a hairs breadth away from moving to a cave on a mountain top! But that’ll never happen, my husband would follow me there. So much for peace and quiet! Anyway, great post, as you can tell, I definitely identified with it.

    1. Lol your response made me chuckle, thanks so much for sharing ❤️ I too would love a retreat to the mountains perhaps not in a cave, maybe a nice little quiet cabin. It’s nice to know I’m not alone!

  4. I can definitely relate to needing alone time to recharge my energy. I find a short meditation in the morning helps to set me up for the day and getting out for a 15 minute walk during my lunch break makes a big difference as well.
